I began my photography adventure at the fresh age of 16 in the darkroom at my high school art class.  It was only a matter of a few assignments before I found my love for photographing people and capturing their stories.  Immediately after high school, I continued my photography journey at the University of Oklahoma where I studied photography at the school of fine arts- graduating with my BFA in the spring of 2010.

In January of 2009, I launched Shirley Kay Photography in Oklahoma City, booking a handful of spring engagement sessions followed by summer weddings.  Since then, I have photographed uncountable weddings and eventually became a family photographer as I grew with my early clients when they began having little ones of their own and allowing me the great honor to photograph their growing families.

Fast forward a few years later, and I found myself looking for an adventure- and in April 2016 I relocated from OKC to Crested Butte, Colorado!  I have loved all of the new families I have had the opportunity to meet and photograph as they come to the mountains to relax and explore.  I am so fortunate to be able to take trips back to Oklahoma in the fall of each year to continue to photograph the families I know and love there too.

Photographing families and children brings me so much joy.  I have a laid back style and want for everyone to enjoy their time in front of the camera, knowing that they will end up with beautiful photos that show off their family's love and personalities.  Thank you so much for taking the time to get to know a little about me!
